  • 10.0% (1.56 million) high school students and 4.6% (550,000) middle school students reported current use of e-cigarettes
  • Among U.S. high school students, current overall tobacco product use declined during 2022-2023 (16.5% to 12.6%). This decline was primarily driven by e-cigarettes (14.1% to 10.0%), which translates to 580,000 fewer high school students who currently used e-cigarettes in 2023.

  • Conclusions: Convincing or converging evidence supports avoidance of cannabis during adolescence and early adulthood, in people prone to or with mental health disorders, in pregnancy and before and while driving. Cannabidiol is effective in people with epilepsy. Cannabis based medicines are effective in people with multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, inflammatory bowel disease, and in palliative medicine but not without adverse events.

  • In this cross-sectional study of primary care patients in a state with legal recreational cannabis use, CUD [cannabis use disorder] was common among patients who used cannabis, with 21% having CUD and 6% having moderate to severe CUD.
